From April 1, 2025, SIA licence renewals for door supervisors and security guards will require refresher training. This training updates safety-critical skills, including physical intervention, searches, and terror threat awareness. For door supervisors, there is additional content on protecting vulnerable people and spiking awareness. These refresher qualifications will ensure all licence holders maintain up-to-date knowledge. The refresher courses will be available starting December 2024, with mandatory renewal requirements in place by April 2025.
We are excited to introduce our latest national recognised offering – the Highfield Level 3 Award in The Safe Use of Mechanical Restraints. This course is specifically designed to provide SIA Licences' with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely apply and remove mechanical restraints, such as handcuffs, on both compliant and non-compliant individuals.

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) launches Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) Security e-Learning for security professionals on ProtectUK.
ACT Security e-Learning is specialised counter-terrorism awareness training that provides up-to-date knowledge to help security operatives prepare and respond to terrorist incidents. It is now accessible on the ProtectUK platform alongside the ACT Awareness e-Learning.
To access the ACT Security e-Learning from Monday 5th February, security operatives no longer need to email the SIA to request a pin to register. You will be able to register and log in to complete your online learning course on the ProtectUK website.
The ACT Security course takes around 1 hour 15 minutes to complete, and its flexible delivery allows the user to pause and save progress. When taken with the ACT Awareness e-Learning, it covers the entire counter-terrorism content for SIA licence-linked qualifications and top-up training.
